Many of our prospective students have similar questions before embarking on their journey to Rishikesh. Questions span various categories like the accommodation and meals provided, the yoga teaching style, and the Delhi-Rishikesh pre-training transportation.
While you can find many of the answers by browsing through our website, we complied the most frequently asked questions here for your convenience:
Yes, Kaivalya Yoga school is run by Kaivalya Yoga Trust, which is registered under the Indian Trust Act of 1961 by the government of India.
We are also affiliated with Yoga Alliance International, a world-wide organization for the yoga community.

Yes, accommodation and meals are included in the fee structure. Students stay for 29-nights in Rishikesh, where they are served 3 freshly prepared vegetarian meals and tea twice each day.
Upon arrival in Delhi before the course, students can also stay 1-night in a hotel arranged by Kaivalya Yoga at no extra charge. Buffet-style dinner and breakfast are provided. Students who stay overnight in Delhi will have an extra day of bonding with fellow students before the yoga training starts.
Rishikesh is a holy, spiritual city. Meals are all vegetarian and prepared in a healthy, sattvic manner in line with the philosophy of yoga. Three meals are prepared fresh daily by the on-site dining staff. They may include seasonal vegetables, lentils, rice, roti, and other traditional Indian-style meals. In accordance with the nutrition principles of Ayurveda, meals are prepared in a way that provides the best fuel for your body during an intense month of yoga practice.
Yes, we can. We know that after a long transcontinental flight, the last thing you want to worry about is getting to your hotel safely. Kaivalya Yoga provides airport pick-up from Delhi or Dehradun directly to your hotel. If you are coming in on an afternoon or night flight the day before the opening ceremony, we will also arrange an overnight hotel stay for you in Delhi.
We are in the heart of Rishikesh! Rishikesh is made up of a few smaller villages or neighborhoods, including Ram Jhula, Lakshman Jhula, and Swarg Ashram. Kaivalya Yoga school is located in the Swarg Ashram area, nearby the Ganges River. While you will likely find everything you need among the bustling shops and restaurants of Swarg Ashram, there is also a more traditional Rishikesh city center about 15 minutes away by taxi or auto-rickshaw.
While many yoga schools offer training for unlimited numbers of students, we believe that smaller batches make for a better learning environment. We try to keep our student batches as small as possible, ideally between 4-8 students. This allows for maximum interaction between the teachers and the students.
Our yoga teachers come from all different yoga backgrounds. Some were born into yoga families and have been practicing all their lives, while others deviated from a traditional corporate path to find their true purpose in yoga. Each teacher has a wealth of teaching experience in the local Rishikesh ashrams and yoga studios. You can learn more about their backgrounds on our teachers page.
Every teacher has a unique teaching style and specialty. The course subjects–asana, pranayama, yoga philosophy, Bhagavad Gita, yoga anatomy, Ayurveda, meditation, and asana alignment & teaching practice–are each covered by teachers who are specialized in that particular field. Our past students have been especially pleased with the various perspectives and diverse knowledge each Kaivalya Yoga teacher brings into their practice.
Kaivalya Yoga’s spacious yoga hall, dining facilities, and residential accommodation are all in the same building. Studying Hatha yoga for 29 days from 6:30am to 7pm can be quite intense. Students are best able to dedicate their attention to yoga when everything is conveniently in the same location. This also gives students the maximum personal time and relaxation during the daily breaks.
